Personalised, meaningful and fun Humanist and non-religious wedding ceremonies.
Welcome!
If you're planning to tie the knot or renew your vows, congratulations! You've landed in the right place.
I'm Louise, a Humanist Wedding Celebrant and creator of warm, fun and unforgettable wedding ceremonies. Whether you have a clear vision for your ceremony, or you're not sure where to start, I'll work closely with you to create a unique and personal celebration that truly reflects you as a couple.
Whether you dream of saying your vows on a cliff top, in a stunning hotel, or even in the comfort of your own kitchen, I’m here to make it happen. And guess what? I can legally marry you anywhere in Northern Ireland - how cool is that?
Everyone says your wedding day should be the best day of your life - so why not start it off right? With a ceremony that’s perfect for you, designed exactly the way you want it.
About me:
I live in Belfast but more than happy to travel anywhere in Northern Ireland, or further afield for your ceremony. I live with my bestest boy and furry friend Bruce, the golden lab. I'm a lover of all things outdoors, bikes, music and a lovely glass (or two) of red wine.
If you’re looking for a warm and friendly Celebrant, who values connection and creating a truly personal, one-of-a-kind ceremony, I'd love to hear from you.
A humanist wedding is all about you. It’s a non-religious ceremony that celebrates your love, your story, and the values you share. There are no fixed scripts or set rituals - instead, we will create something together that truly reflects the two of you. Humanist weddings are joyful, inclusive, and deeply meaningful, giving you the chance to put your own stamp on the heart of your day, and make it a part of your day that you and your guests will never forget.
Yes, hooray! Since 2018, humanist weddings have been fully legal in Northern Ireland, so your ceremony will absolutely legally binding. Get in touch and I can explain the process.
That’s the fun part! I’ll get to know you both, hear your story, and find out what matters most to you. Together, we’ll shape a ceremony with words, vows, and personal touches that reflect who you are as a couple.
Absolutely. Whether it’s a favourite poem, a song that means the world to you, or a symbolic ritual like handfasting (see below for some examples), you can include whatever feels right. Not sure on what readings, symbolic ritual, or music you want - no problem, I have loads I can recommend.
Most ceremonies are around 30 minutes, but it’s completely flexible. The timing depends on the elements you’d like to include.
I can legally marry you in Northern Ireland only, but I’m always happy to chat about travelling further afield for non-legal ceremonies, or vow renewals. Just let me know where you’re planning to celebrate, and we can work out the details together.
Absolutely! Love is love, and humanist weddings in Northern Ireland are fully legal for same-sex couples. Together, we can create a ceremony that’s personal, joyful, and just right for you.
Absolutely, yes! it is your day, so if you feel more comfortable expressing your love for each other in your own way, then that's perfectly fine.
Yes please! I love dogs, so it would be amazing if your four-legged friend could join us. As long as your venue is happy with it, your dog can be part of the celebration - whether that’s walking down the aisle with you, being your ring-bearer, or just sitting happily by your side.
Absolutely! I love when guests are part of the celebration. Clapping, cheering, or even a few happy tears are something I whole heartedly encourage. Your guests are part of your celebration, so the louder the love, the better.
The first step is to get in touch. Don't be shy - drop me an email, text, or give me a call, and we’ll have a chat about your plans, your story, and what you want from your ceremony.
If it feels like a good fit, we’ll secure your date, and from there I’ll guide you through every step, helping you create a ceremony that’s personal, meaningful, and completely yours.
No problem - give me a shout at hello@louisethecelebrant.com or 07701067449.
Handfasting is one of my favourite symbolic acts - it’s simple, meaningful, and so beautiful to watch. The idea comes from old Celtic traditions, where hands were tied together as a sign of commitment (it’s actually where the phrase “tying the knot” comes from).

In your ceremony, I’ll guide you through the handfasting and how that might look. You might like to pick different coloured ribbons, each representing something special in your relationship. One of the loveliest touches is when family or friends take part, each tying a ribbon and offering their wishes for your future together. At the end, you’ll have the ribbons as a keepsake - a reminder of that moment and the promises you made.

During the ceremony, you and your partner take a sip together, usually after signing the register - your very first drink as a married couple! You can personalise it by choosing whatever tipple you fancy, from whisky to tea, making it as relaxed or cheeky as you like.
Family and friends can join in too, sharing a moment of connection and celebration with you. It’s not just a drink; it’s a small, meaningful ritual that adds joy, laughter, and a real sense of togetherness to your special day.
If you fancy including this in your ceremony, let me know and we can chat about how to make it work.
The unity candle is a beautiful way to show your lives coming together. During the ceremony, you each light a smaller candle and then use them to ignite a larger one together, symbolising your love, commitment, and the joining of your paths.

It’s also a lovely way to remember someone who is no longer with us - you can dedicate a candle in their memory, keeping them close in spirit on your special day. Family or friends can even be involved, making it a glowing, heartfelt moment to share with everyone.
